With help of Europol, Greek police crack fraud and smuggling ring

The Greek Police on Friday announced the arrested the arrest of three foreign nationals believed to have played a leading role in the operation of a large ring producing forged travel documents for illegal immigrants.

Greek officers traced the suspects, a Bangladesh national and two Somalians, with the help of Europol. The Bangladeshi is alleged to have led one sub-division of the ring who is believed to have used courier firms to send forged travel documents to beneficiaries in various countries.

The two Sudanese suspects are thought to have led another sub-division that smuggled migrants with forged papers via Athens International Airport to Italy, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic and France.

Three suspected accomplices were arrested in the Czech Republic and four in France.
