Marietta Giannakou. Her political career began in Brussels after being elected ND’s Euro MP in 1984. She also served a brief spell (1990-1991) as health minister in the Mitsotakis administration. Her wealth of experience abroad, including in the European Union, was probably one of the main reasons for her current appointment. She is one of only two women in Karamanlis’s Cabinet.
