Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has reacted to the death of former conservative prime minister Constantine Mitsotakis, praising the legacy of an “outstanding political leader”

“Mitsotakis… has left an indelible mark on the political life of our country,” Pavlopoulos, a former conservative minister, said in a statement that praised the late politician's “dedication to democratic ideals and the principles of parliamentary democracy.”

A patriarch of one of Greece's most influential political families, Mitsotakis was prime minister of Greece from 1990 to 1993. He died in the early hours of Monday aged 98.
