No national rail service Thursday

There will be no national train services on Thursday as drivers stage a 24-hour walkout to protest working conditions. The action will result in a suspension of connections between the Athens metro and the suburban railway with Athens International Airport.

Strikers are protesting the state of rail infrastructure and the conditions drivers are required to work under. Workers had originally also planned to walk off the job on Tuesday and Wednesday but called off that action after railway operator Trainose canceled all scheduled routes, prompting protests from passengers who said they would not renew their monthly travel cards.
