Kallinikos, Bishop of Piraeus…

Kallinikos, Bishop of Piraeus (r), officiated yesterday at a service at the port city’s cathedral of Aghia Triada, commemorating the victims of terrorism in Greece. The ceremony, organized by the Thanos Axarlian society – named after a bystander killed during a November 17 attack – came on the eve of today’s second trial of six people for participation in a bombing campaign by the Revolutionary Popular Struggle (ELA) extreme left-wing group. Four of the suspects have already been sentenced to 25 years each for ELA attacks. Another, Yiannis Serifis, was one of the four people acquitted in the 2003 November 17 trial.
