A group of men leap into the freezing waters of Iraklion Harbor on Crete yesterday to retrieve a cross thrown in by the local bishop in the Orthodox ritual of the blessing of the waters on the day of the Epiphany. In Kato Nevrokopi, in northern Drama, 11 youths braved a temperature of minus 14 Celsius to retrieve the cross. The captain admitted that the vessel had sailed from Izmir for Greece. He said it was carrying 270 people.
