A 33-year-old man was arrested in Athens yesterday, accused of running an international scam that claimed to sell expensive watches at discount prices over the Internet but failed to deliver the goods. Police said that they had traced the suspect electronically but needed more time to investigate the case in order to determine the size of the operation. Authorities in the US have also been informed that the suspect is thought to have worked with an American partner. After an inspection of the suspect’s home in Liosia, police also uncovered an advanced hydroponic system in which 16 cannabis plants where being cultivated. Police described the system, which grows plants without the use of soil, as being advanced, using water pumps, timing mechanisms and special light bulbs.
