Parents oblivious to children’s Net habits
Almost two-thirds of parents in Greece have no idea that their children can access pornography on the Internet, according to the results of a survey made public yesterday ahead of an international conference on Internet safety that begins in Thessaloniki tomorrow. The Greek Consumer Organization (EKATO) said that 62 percent of parents were not aware that their children can see indecent images on the Net, while 80 percent of adults do not install protection filters on computers used by youngsters at home. Apart from keeping up with technology, parents also have to keep up with children, two-thirds of whom can log on to the Internet from at least three different points. Some 86 percent of children, aged 12-18, access the Internet from home but youngsters also go online at school, libraries and youth clubs, the survey found.
