Schools are failing to provide proper sex education to students

Piperopoulos attributes a great portion of the blame for the situation to the lack of an appropriate education policy in this country. «Despite many voices raised in protest, the Education Ministry and our colleagues in primary and secondary education have not included social psychology in human sexuality in the school curriculum,» he said. «The minister has not raised this issue, nor is it one of the demands of the striking teachers. There are fewer children these days, far more temptations, and a greater sexual freedom, the abuse of which is out of all proportion,» he added. Piperopoulos also emphasized the dissolution of traditional social networks that used to provide some framework. «The past was not ideal nor without problems, but at least there were some informal support networks such as the family, the neighborhood, friends and relations as well as unwritten laws that no longer exist,» he said.
