Monday Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis is today due to meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris where he is on an official visit. Karamanlis is also scheduled to have talks with his French counterpart Francois Fillon and with former French president Valery Giscard D’Estaing. Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos is to lead a delegation of experts on visits to Corinth and Aigialeia to assess the extent of damage wreaked by forest fires and begin planning for anti-flood works. The Foreign Ministry hosts a seminar for Greek ambassadors at the ministry’s Yiannis Kranidiotis auditorium. Guest speakers to include Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas, Defense Minister Evangelos Meimarakis and Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis. To Tuesday. The University of Ioannina in cooperation with the Municipality of Konitsa launches a summer program of seminars on anthropology and folklore in the Balkans. Through to August 12. Tuesday The Culture Ministry’s Central Archaeological Council (KAS) is to convene at 2 p.m. today at the ministry’s offices on Bouboulinas Street, central Athens to discuss whether certain old structures in central Athens should be classified as listed, or historic, buildings.
