Tuesday The Federation of Judicial Employees of Greece (ODYE) begins a 48-hour strike. The organization Nea Smyrni Estia and the Athens chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) are holding a discussion on Macedonia and its history at the Nea Smyrni Estia premises, 1 K. Paleologou Street, Nea Smyrni, at 6.30 p.m. Speakers will include author Nikolaos Mertzos, who is the director of the Society for Macedonian Studies. A protest rally will be held 11 a.m. at Pedion tou Areos. The Journalists’ Union (ESIEA) stages a 24-hour strike opposing government plans to merge the journalists’ pension fund with other funds. The Greek Primary School Teachers’ Federation (OLME) participates in the general 24-hour strike. Thursday The Athens Bar Association holds a conference on «State of Law and State of Judges,» at 7 p.m. at its offices. Justice Minister Sotiris Hatzigakis will make the opening address.
