Arrests over couriered drug from Colombia

Two men have been arrested in Halkidiki, northern Greece, after picking up a package containing more than four kilos of Colombian cocaine from the office of a courier firm, as police lay in wait for them. Officers had been tipped off about the arrival of the package and tracked it down at Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport. Police then allowed the package to be taken to the courier company’s office in Polygyros, where they waited for it be picked up. A 38-year-old man appeared on Saturday to collect the parcel. He displayed a stolen identity card and was arrested by undercover officers. A 30-year-old man who was waiting for him outside the office was also taken into custody. The two men said that they had been sent to collect the package on behalf of a third person, who is currently being sought by the police.
