Police raze huge hash farm in Attica forest

Officers from Attica’s police narcotics unit yesterday were seeking the managers of a massive cannabis farm located on forestland near Mount Parnitha, north of Athens, and comprising hundreds of trees, a sophisticated irrigation system and seven wooden huts, each with beds and basic cooking utensils. Police spotted the plants from the air during a helicopter patrol earlier this month and placed the area under observation for 20 days with the aim of nabbing the producers. When no one turned up at the site, officers yesterday raided the plantation, uprooting a total of 885 cannabis trees ranging in height from 80 centimeters to 2.5 meters. Officers also razed the wooden cabins and yesterday were searching the site for clues that might produce leads regarding the identity or location of the farmers.
