A lost opportunity
An important opportunity for political consensus on a major issue – namely shielding the country against natural disasters – was lost on Tuesday.
The responsibility lies primarily with the opposition, which reacted to the government’s effort to reach across the aisle as if it were a threat.
We will not get far like this. The government may pay for any mismanagement but, at the end of the day, the cost will be paid by the whole country.
