Sanctions and side-effects

The method of a bloodless defense which has correctly been chosen by Europe in the war in Ukraine, using its economic power, cannot turn European households into collateral damage. 

The EU must protect its citizens from the energy and inflationary side-effects of the sanctions imposed on Russia. 

The Union’s attitude to recent crises has shown that it can do it, as long as it can muster the political willpower it has on previous occasions.
