Bloodthirsty idiots

The attack on the residence of the German ambassador in the capital’s northern suburb of Halandri is nothing short of a crime that undermines the interests of this country.

Only a bloodthirsty idiot who wants to expose Greece and tarnish its image in the international community could contemplate shooting bullets at an envoy’s home.

This event, however, also serves as a warning to those in the public sphere who embrace and propagate the language of hate and intolerance, and who either purposefully or incidentally egg on every lunatic who is looking to turn incendiary rhetoric into violent action.

At the same time, the justice system is duty-bound to investigate the causes that have led to known terrorists being allowed to remain at large and to be in a position where they can threaten both the security and interests of the country.
