General paralysis

A strange sort of paralysis has set into every sector managed by the SYRIZA-led government.

This has an incalculable effect that does not only concern the overall management of the Greek economy but also, as demonstrated by Tuesday’s meetings regarding National Strategic Reference Framework funding, the basic operation of sectors such as education and health.

The only activity that the government – which came to power in January 25 – has to show for itself are the negotiations with the country’s partners and creditors – which reached a certain point with well-known results and are now starting all over again – as well as the emergence of inner-party differences which clearly existed before.

The government was not elected in order to perpetually negotiate or sort out its own party issues – it was brought to power to govern. And at the end of the day, it is on this ability that it will be judged.
