Curbing opposition
The government needs to wrap up the review by international creditors of the third bailout agreement if the country hopes to return to some semblance of normality.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras appears to be firmly committed to this goal. Nevertheless, we are still seeing strange things going on, such as the facts that ministers whose only aim is to sabotage crucial areas of the review remain in the cabinet following last week’s reshuffle.
The prime minister will need to display significant political force so that such objections to the progress of talks are put to bed and so that this cabinet does not degenerate into a cacophony of opposing voices, just like the previous one.
There is no need to stress that there is very little time and very little room for maneuvers.
