LE MONDE ON MARKEZINIS: Paris (From our correspondent) – According to information received from Athens today, a government crisis has been looming for some time due to the continuing promotion of the work and the personality of (the former coordination minister) Mr Spyros Markezinis (who has just submitted his resignation). Markezinis had been trying to play a more prominent role in governing the country, something which offended not only the political and military members of the government, but also the prime minister, Field Marshal Alexandros Papagos himself. Le Monde’s correspondent in Athens claims that Mr Markezinis was a victim of his own unpopularity. (….)
