Out of control

The instances of extreme and violent protests in the city center and elsewhere have increased at an alarming rate.

The leftist-led government believes it can manage the situation in a slack way and with publicity ploys, at its peril.

Back in the day when those in government today were in the opposition or even not in Parliament, their behavior was unprecedented  – by Greek political moral standards – as they actively and irresponsibly nurtured a new generation of citizens that believe there are no limits to protests.

None whatsoever.

Now the chickens have come home to roost and those in government, as is the country for that matter, are paying the cost of their folly as they try to pick up the pieces in their effort to adapt to the real world.

But these are very dangerous times, because the situation they helped cultivate is at risk of getting out of hand.
