How Greece can boost its soccer

As an Australian Greek I had the pleasure of attending last Thursday’s friendly match between Australia and Greece (which Australia won 1-0). The 95,000 people of Greek and other ethnic Australian backgrounds sat next to each other, many wearing both scarves and there was no violence or ill feeling amongst supporters. I wonder if Panathinaikos and Olympiakos fans could ever achieve that in Athens’s Olympic stadium? As for the result, Greece needs to start looking for younger players and with more attacking options in mind if it is going to successfully defend its title in 2008. Scoring goals for Greece is a real problem. GEORGE SALAMOURAS, Melbourne.
