KHRUSHCHEV IN THE USA: Des Moines, Iowa, 23 – Nikita Khrushchev’s day in Coon Rapids was spent on a tour of the fields of Iowa, where corn farmers showed their crops to the Soviet premier, who appeared extremely interested in their methods. Khrushchev spoke at length with Senator Adlai Stevenson, but their conversation was more jocular than any serious discussion of world issues. Generally, however, there was an atmosphere of optimism both in Washington and Moscow with regard to a positive outcome from the imminent talks at Camp David, where Khrushchev and US President Dwight D. Eisenhower will finish up their talks. ANDREAS G. PAPANDREOU: Professor Andreas G. Papandreou, dean of the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, is to give a lecture this evening at the Panteios School of Political Science. It is the first in a series of four lectures organized by the educational section of the US Information Service in cooperation with the American Educational Foundation in Greece. All the lectures will be given in English. MELINA MERCOURI: The actress Melina Mercouri will be starring in Tennessee Williams’s «Sweet Bird of Youth» in a production by Karolos Koun’s Art Theater, to premiere in February.
