Smoking ban a greater draw to tourism; Greece lovelier without second-hand smoke

I recently read of Greece’s new smoking bans and I couldn’t be more pleased. My wife works for the State of California Department of Health Service’s Tobacco Control Unit and is the coordinator for issues involving second-hand smoke in public places. Greece is our favorite country to visit in Europe but because of the smoking issue we were many times forced to dine early or have a wonderful dinner spoiled by smokers. This new smoking ban certainly effects our decision about returning to our favorite destination sooner and I’m sure it will have a positive effect on tourism, as well as the health of your wonderful citizenry. Here in California we ban all smoking in restaurants and bars and the laws have not only reduced smoking but have increased business, especially for bar owners. We will raise a glass of ouzo and toast the wise decision to protect the health of your wonderful country and look forward to visiting Greece again soon.
