CONTRACT WITH THE PEOPLE: The seven terms of the national contract between Field Marshal Papagos and the Greek people: The field marshal, continuing a triumphant tour that bodes well for a great victory for the Greek Rally party on November 16, arrived yesterday in the capital of northern Greece. (…) The field marshal, speaking before an enthusiastic crowd of 60,000, made a significant speech from the Olympion Hall in Aristotelous Square. «(…) People of Thessaloniki, I have chosen your wonderful Greek city (…) to explain some of my convictions, in the form of the terms of a contract. Study them and, fully conscious of their importance, put your own signature to them if you wish. Voting for the Greek Rally party the Sunday after next will constitute a signature. I promise to abide by it.» PLASTIRAS: The authorities are in possession of irrefutable proof that fully confirms suspicions that EPEK party leader General (Nikolaos) Plastiras had made promises as early as 1950 to representatives of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) that he would release its leading cadres from prison if the KKE would support him in the elections of September 1950. RENE CLEMENT: The famous French writer and film director Mr Rene Clement arrived in Athens yesterday. Mr Clement achieved fame after the war with his first film «La Bataille du Rail» which was judged best film of 1945.
