Workshop on human trafficking

A workshop to raise public awareness about human trafficking, part of the international NO Project, will be hosted by the Hellenic American Union on Monday, May 9, starting at 7 p.m.

The 90-minute workshop, titled ?Human Trafficking and Modern-day Slavery,? includes extracts from award-winning documentaries, statistics, stories from victims of human trafficking, works of art by young Greek artists and music videos.

In general, people still know little about the extent of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The reality, however, is that human trafficking, a crime of unbelievable cruelty, is one of the fastest-growing crimes on the planet, generating massive profits for traffickers through the torture, dehumanization and forced exploitation of other human beings.

The NO Project is an independent anti-human trafficking public awareness initiative that focuses on the role of increasing demand for labor- and sex-trafficking victims. At the same time it targets youth awareness through music, the arts, education and social media.

The workshop will be conducted in English by artist and activist Judy Boyle, founder of the NO Project, and Greek subtitles will be provided for video content. It is free of charge.

Following the event there will be a complimentary buffet offered by Cafe Boheme (Omirou Street 36, Kolonaki). For every drink bought, Cafe Boheme will make a donation towards anti-trafficking initiatives.
