Chess and culture on Corfu

The First International Chess Cultural Festival will be taking place on the elegant Ionian island of Corfu from June 18 to 27 and will include a number of interesting events running parallel to the main chess tournament.

International chess champions will lock horns and deliver tutorials, while amateurs can also demonstrate their skills and take a shot at one of the cash prizes.

Sideline events include cooking seminars, a one-day tour of the island?s attractions, film and documentary screenings at an open-air theater and lectures and talks on the history, theory and significance of the game.

The festival is hosted by the Marbella Beach Hotel, located at Aghios Ioannis Peristeron, 16 kilometers from Corfu Town.

Prana Yoga on Cephalonia

Instructors from the Athens-based Prana Yoga Studio will be traveling to the island of Cephalonia from May 20 to 22 to hold classes at the seaside Emelisse Art Hotel in Fiskardo.

Costing 180 euros per person for two nights? accommodation, two breakfasts and dinners, all the classes and a countryside trek, the event includes classes in relaxation and stress management techniques, reflexology, massage and pilates.
