Greece hosts Latvia for the Davis Cup

The Greek national team will be coming up against Latvia for the Davis Cup on the weekend of March 4-6 in Thessaloniki.

The Greek-Latvian battle begins on March 4, at the Thessaloniki Tennis Club, with the clash between Thodoros Angelinos and Latvia’s number 2 player Andis Juska, in the context of Group II of the Europe/Africa Zone. Then, Alexandros Jakupovic will face Karlis Lejnieks.

March 5 will see a doubles match between Jakupovic and Constantinos Economidis against Juska and Deniss Pavlovs, while the following day will feature Angelinos playing against Lejnieks and Jakupovic taking on Juska.

Latvia aspires to return to Group I from which it got relegated last year, but has come to Thessaloniki without its top player, Ernest Gulbis.

The Greek players called on Thessaloniki fans to support the national team, adding they will give it their best to advance to the second round of the Davis Cup.
