Men’s cup final set for next month

At last a date for the Greek Cup final has been set, and it will be Monday, May 16, the Hellenic Basketball Federation announced on April 4.

The final had been postponed from last month due to fears of clashes between the fans of the two finalists, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

The federation confirmed that there will only be 600 tickets given to each finalist for the game at Elliniko, meaning that a total of 2,000 fans, including federation invitees, will attend the final at a court with a capacity of almost 8,000, following the pattern of the last three years when the same teams also met in the Greek Cup decider.

The decision to hold the final on a Monday was due to the planned absence of federation strongman Giorgos Vassilakopoulos during the weekend of May 14-15, and the two clubs gave consented to the decision.

Tickets will only go to season ticket holders and will not be transferable.
