Greens claim women?s title again

Panathinaikos won the women?s volleyball league title on April 11 after defeating rival Olympiakos 3-0 at Rendi.

The Greens would have been crowned champions even with a 3-2 loss, but managed to win 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 for their seventh title in a row.

Iraklis and Olympiakos will contest the men?s league final after beating PAOK and Panathinaikos respectively in their playoff semifinal series. Both finalists enjoyed away victories against their crosstown rivals on Saturday, while also reserving their places in next season?s Champions League.

Iraklis, which two weeks earlier had lost at PAOK for the regular season, was by far the better side on the Pylaia court and won 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16). PAOK had shown greater resistance in Game 1 of the series, which ended 3-2 in favor of hosts Iraklis three days earlier.

Olympiakos did it the hard way, but swept Panathinaikos with a 2-0 score in the semifinal series after winning 3-2 (18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19, 16-14) on Saturday at Glyfada.
