Aris sets up semifinal with Olympiakos

Aris overcame Maroussi?s resistance on May 7 to be the last team to enter the league semifinals, maintaining its chance of advancing to next season?s Euroleague.

Tied at one win apiece after the first two matches of the best-of-three series, the two teams met in Thessaloniki, where the hosts emerged victorious with a 69-45 score.

Maroussi had won Game 1 at the Alexandrio Sports Hall, but this time Aris was not going to relinquish the home advantage it had regained after its win at Maroussi three days earlier.

The hosts led throughout the match, sometimes with a double score, and reached victory in an easier-than-expected fashion.

Anthony King and Christos Tapoutos each grabbed 12 points for Aris, while Yiannis Gagaloudis (a former Aris player) scored 11 for Maroussi.

Aris will now face Olympiakos in the semifinals.
