Olympiakos completed its eighth signing of the summer with the acquisition of Spanish midfielder Fran Yeste, whom it presented on July 22.
The champion announced that the 32-year-old signed a one-year contract after passing a medical test.
“My contract is for one season and if we are happy with our cooperation we will continue. That requires a lot of hard work, though,» said Yeste, who spent 11 years at Athletic Bilbao.
“I realize Olympiakos is a step forward in my career, there are great expectations and the season is important because there also are the Champions League games,» the Spain Under-20 international said.
He stressed that his biggest motivation to come to Greece was Olympiakos coach Ernesto Valverde, adding that he would have come to Olympiakos last year if Valverde had been at the club from the start of the season.
Also on July 22 Valverde chose to leave Danish international Dennis Rommedahl out of the squad to travel to the Netherlands for four friendly games, effectively showing he does not need him for the new season.
