Reds qualify to top-16 beating Cantu

Olympiakos secured its passage to the top-16 of the Euroleague on December 15 through an 86-61 win over Italy?s Cantu at home.

The Reds were dominant almost throughout the game at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus and stretched their lead as the match went along thanks to a tight defense and a prolific attack, led by Vassilis Spanoulis and Giorgos Printezis.

Cantu led temporarily 25-24 in the second period, but had no answer to the determined Greeks who led 38-29 at the end of the first half.

The second half was virtually one-way traffic as Olympiakos scored 25 points in the third period and 23 in the fourth to win handsomely and retain its hopes of finishing on top of the group if all results in the last round of games go its way.

Spanoulis scored 22 points, Printezis added another 14, while Kyle Hines and Lazaros Papadopoulos had 12 points each.

In the last round of games next week Olympiakos visits Nancy in France.
