Second win over Fenerbahce for Greens

Panathinaikos is one win away from qualifying to the quarterfinals of the Euroleague after beating Turkey?s Fenerbahce/Ulker for the second time within a week.

This time the Greens won 72-62 in Athens to rise to joint top of the group along with UNICS Kazan.

This third win in four games in the competition?s second group stage came in an easier fashion than the final score would suggest, after Panathinaikos led by up to 19 points in the course of the second half.

The Turks repeatedly tried a comeback but could not get any closer than nine points.

Led by Costas Tsartsaris, who scored 21 points, the Greeks enjoyed a significant victory, also relying on their tight defense. Mike Batiste scored another 11 points.

Victory at home against Emporio Armani Milano in its next game on February 23 will see Panathinaikos through to the Euroleague playoffs.
