Olympiakos, Panathinaikos stroll to 2-0 in playoffs

The second games of the two semifinal series of the A1 basketball league provided more of the same as Friday’s games were pretty similar to Wednesday’s, with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos scoring easy home wins.

Olympiakos is leading AGO Rethymnou 2-0 in their best-of-five series after winning 87-72 in Game 2 that was staged again at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus.

AGOR challenged Olympiakos in the first half, that ended 40-36 in the Reds’ favor, but in the second half the hosts were dominant and won easily in the end. Rethymno coach Thanasis Yaples admitted after the game that “we did all we could do…”

Panathinaikos added another emphatic performance against Panionios to its 23-point win on Wednesday to triumph by 26 on Friday with an 81-55 score at the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens. This was the second match in a row that Panionios has underperformed

Games 3 of the series will take place on Monday at Rethymno and Nea Smyrni.
