Solid second half sees Greek hoopsters thrash Belgium

Greece produced an imposing performance in the second half against Belgium on Saturday to win its first knock-out game in the 2015 Eurobasket with a 75-54 score and advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament in France.

Belgium was close to Greece in the score throughout the first half, which ended 34-31, thanks to its good distance shooting.

However in the second half the Greeks tightened their defense and broke away to take the game beyond the Belgians, stretching the difference up to 27 points (71-44).

Yiannis Bourousis (14 points) and Costas Koufos (13 points) were the top scorers for the Greek national team that extended its perfect record in the tournament with six wins in as many games.

Greece will next face the winner of the tie of Spain with Poland. The all-important quarterfinal will take place on Tuesday at Lille.
