Seitaridis moves to Dynamo Moscow in lucrative transfer

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Dynamo Moscow have signed Porto defender Yourkas Seitaridis to a five-year contract, the Russian premier league club said yesterday. Dynamo head Alexei Fedorychev told the Sport-Express newspaper that the Greek international had signed a five-year, 10-million-euro deal with the Moscow club. Seitaridis will join an expensively assembled side which includes Porto midfielders Costinha and Maniche along with several other former teammates. Dynamo signed Costinha and Maniche for a combined 20 million euros this month in addition to buying seven players from various Portuguese clubs, including Porto’s Brazilian striker Derlei for 7.5 million euros in the close season. Fedorychev, who has been compared to Chelsea’s Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich for his lavish spending, has already splashed out nearly 50 million euros on players since buying a majority stake in the club last year. He said he planned to pump another 80 million euros into the once-mighty side in the next two years to make them a force in Russian and Europe. However, Dynamo have made a stuttering start to the season with four consecutive defeats costing coach Oleg Romantsev his job.
