Center Vassilis Soulis

Until Wednesday night, center Vassilis Soulis, 26, had made only one three-point shot in his career, and that was back in 1997. This year, he was 0-for-6 from behind the 6.25-meter line. On Wednesday, Soulis hit five three-pointers (in six attempts) to help his team, Ionikos, sink Panathinaikos, 83-77, in what was, so far, the upset of the season. Panathinaikos retains second place in the Greek Basketball League but is now just two points behind leader AEK, which looks likely to obtain the home court advantage throughout the playoffs. ‘I just happened to make the first shot, and it went from there,’ Soulis said after the game.
