Success at the short-course Europeans

Though the national swimming team was represented by a mere five swimmers at the European short-course Championship in Debrecen, Hungary, between Thursday and Sunday, it returned with the impressive achievement of two bronze medals and six national records. Yiannis Drymonakos won both the team’s medals. He ended third in the men’s 200-meter butterfly final on Saturday as a follow-up to the bronze medal won a day earlier in the 400-meter medley. The medal-winning swimmer’s coach Yiannis Orfanidis said he expected further success at the upcoming Europeans in the Netherlands, to be held in the more customary 50-meter pool, to which he said Drymonakos was more accustomed.
