Thrasyvoulos focused on promotion, not cup
Second-division club Thrasyvoulos, the Greek Cup’s surprise team this season, will treat today’s second-leg semifinal at Super League front-runner Olympiakos as a celebration, the club’s coach Sakis Tsiolis said yesterday. Thrasyvoulos, trailing 3-2 in the cup tie, is locked in a battle for promotion. Currently fourth, Thrasyvoulos meets Ionikos, one spot above and two points ahead, in league play this Saturday. Nine rounds of play remain in the second division. The top three clubs get promoted to the Super League. «For Thrasyvoulos, the game against Olympiakos is a celebration. Unfortunately, the heavy schedule in the league has forced us to somehow change our plans,» said Tsiolis. «A game against Ionikos is next on Saturday, and that’s where we’re focused, because the league is our main objective,» he continued. In the other second-leg semifinal, also today, Aris, leading 1-0, is hosted by relegation-threatened club Atromitos.
