Reds in hunt for Brazilians

Olympiakos is hoping to wind up this week deals that could see three Brazilian players join the Piraeus club as the countdown begins for the Champions League qualifiers and the start of the new Super League season. It has been a relatively quiet summer on the transfer front for the league and cup holders but that could change if the Reds gain their targets. The three players that Olympiakos is chasing are Brandao, a striker with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk; Dudu, a midfielder who currently plays for Russian side CSKA Moscow and talented youngster Diogo, who is with Brazilian side Portuguesa. Olympiakos has to submit to European soccer’s governing body UEFA its final squad for the Champions League by Thursday so the Reds want to tie up the deals this week. Olympiakos’s Spanish coach Ernesto Valverde denied yesterday that he told a newspaper in his homeland he was frustrated by the lack of signings at his new club. Valverde issued a statement in which he expressed his surprise at the report.
