Larissa close to deal with Peru’s Solano

Soccer club Larissa has reportedly agreed terms with former Newcastle and West Ham star Nolberto Solano for a two-year contract. The 34-year-old Peruvian international, who also played for Aston Villa in the Premiership, has reached a deal with the Super League club and is about to send his contract signed, reports suggested yesterday. The transfer should be completed by this weekend. Last month Solano had reached agreement with Cypriot champion Anorthosis and was about to go to Larnaca to sign his contract, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Sources said his wife had wanted him to move to a club in the US so that they could be closer to Peru. Larissa had tried to contact him last month but his original response had been negative. The second approach by the Thessaly club seems to have been more successful. Solano has 82 caps to his name and has scored 20 times with Peru. He was also the first Peruvian ever to play in England.
