Greece’s top tennis player, Lena Daniilidou, ranked 55 in the world, advanced to the second round of the French Open after a straight-sets victory (6-3, 6-1) yesterday against France’s Celine Beigbeder. Daniilidou, a steady climber in world rankings, has reached the third round of two Grand Slam events – the US Open and Australian Open – over the past year. She is the first Greek to do so.
