More success in club water polo

Greek club water polo has been going from strength to strength in Europe this season. In addition to Olympiakos topping its group in the men’s Euroleague to reach the quarterfinals and Panionios reaching the semifinals of the men’s LEN Trophy, Olympiakos looks good to reach the final of the women’s version of the LEN Trophy. The Greek side grabbed a 5-5 draw in Hungary in the first leg of the semifinal against Dunaujvaros on Wednesday and will need to win by any score at home in the second leg in Piraeus to reach the final of the competition. Coach Haris Pavlidis’s players were excellent in defense, frustrating the Hungarian side. The second leg is scheduled for March 18. If it qualifies, Olympiakos will likely face Shturm Chekhov in the final, since the latter defeated fellow Russian side Dinamo Izmailovo Moscow 17-9 in the first leg of the other semifinal on Wednesday.
