Fresh doping scandal rocks weightlifting
Greek weightlifting will have to bear the shame of yet another doping scandal, as the first sample from an athlete who took part in last March’s European Union championships in Poland has tested positive for a banned substance, according to reports. Although the name of the athlete has not been revealed, sources suggested yesterday that it is a weightlifter who has enjoyed outstanding performances recently. Meanwhile, the Greek federation banned Giorgos Papadopoulos and Christina Filandrianou for two years for doping offenses.
