Reds and Greens eye Final Four of Euroleague
With one eye on the Euroleague Final Four this weekend, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos secured their passes to the semifinals of the Greek league on Monday without impressing with their performances. Olympiakos defeated Kolossos 86-76 on Rhodes and won the best-of-three quarterfinals series 2-0. In the next round, it will face either Maroussi or Panellinios, which will clash for the second time today at Kypseli, after Maroussi won Game 1. Panathinaikos had to dig dip to defeat PAOK in Thessaloniki 82-78 and win the series 2-0. In the semifinals, Panathinaikos will play either Aris or Panionios. The Thessaloniki side was in the lead 1-0 from the tight first match and on Wednesday the two teams meet again at Panionios. Maroussi, Panellinios, Aris and Panionios are vying for the third spot Greece will have in next season’s Euroleague, with Aris having the upper hand at the moment, as it will have home advantage in the third-place playoff – if it makes it to that stage.
