Olympiakos wins volleyball double

Olympiakos has returned to the top of Greek volleyball after six years, completing a league-and-cup double on Thursday in the capital. The Reds defeated Panathinaikos 3-0 at home to win the final series 3-1. Led by its Serbian superstar Ivan Miljkovic, Olympiakos struggled to win the first set 30-28, but then strolled into the second, which they won 25-16 against a dispirited Panathinaikos. The third set saw the hosts score seven straight points to overturn a 4-2 deficit at the start and lead 9-4, an advantage they held on to until the end (25-19). The win sparked wild celebrations at Rendi, with a capacity crowd enjoying their team’s title victory despite finishing second in the regular season.
