Reds sign Danish World Cup star Dennis Rommedahl

Olympiakos soccer club has added yet another high-profile name to its roster with the signing of Danish World Cup star Dennis Rommedahl on Wednesday. The former Ajax, Eindhoven and Charlton player arrived in Athens on Tuesday, and on Wednesday signed a two-year contract with the club. «Olympiakos soccer club announces the acquisition of Dennis Rommedahl. The Danish player today visited the club’s headquarters and signed his new contract of two years,» read a statement on the Olympiakos website. «I know we have to become champions again, which is what I have come here for. I am aware that Olympiakos is the biggest team in Greece,» said Rommedahl. The arrival of the 31-year-old winger follows the signing of Argentine playmaker Ariel Ibagaza last week. On Tuesday, the Reds had also inked a deal with German left-back Jose Holebas for the next three years. Last night, Olympiakos appeared set for a comfortable win against Besa Kavaje in Albania, its first Europa League match. At the halftime mark of the late-kickoff first-leg match, Olympiakos was leading 2-0, with both goals coming from Oscar Gonzalez.
