Tsakonas finishes 7th in 200 m final in Barcelona

Lykourgos Tsakonas came seventh in the final of the 200 meters last night at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona. It was the 20-year-old sprinter from the Peloponnese’s first major event and he impressed by reaching the final, where he clocked a time of 20.90 seconds. Tonia Stergiou qualified for the final of the women’s high jump, clearing 1.92 meters, her best performance this season. Louis Tsatoumas was the only Greek out of three to advance to the final of the long jump, as he managed to leap 8.17 meters in his first attempt. Tonight, Periklis Iakovakis will be defending his European Championship title in the 400-meter hurdles final.
