Cretan butcher given life sentence for double murder
A 52-year-old butcher from Iraklio, Crete, was given a life sentence on Wednesday for the murder of two men in the Profitis Ilias area in June 2012.
He was found guilty of shooting to death Priamos Xydakis, aged 34, and Manolis Stavroulakis, 63.
One of the butcher’s brothers was given a 12-year sentence for attempting to murder Yiannis Xydakis, the father of Priamos.
The two convicted men had claimed they were fired upon in a dispute with their two victims but authorities were not able to find any evidence of this.
