Children form human chain around Parthenon in anti-racism initiative

Some 2,500 children of different ethnic origins formed a human chain around the Parthenon on Friday as part of an initiative by the General Secretariat of Transparency and Human Rights to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The children released hundreds of colored balloons into the air as part of the peace initiative.

Earlier in the day Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias claimed that Greece was taking bold strides to curb racism, referring in particular to the government's crackdown on the neofascist Golden Dawn.
